Clean Fuels Michigan Applauds Governor’s Commitment to Clean Mobility Industries
Lansing, MI. — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s $80.7 billion proposed budget presented to state lawmakers Wednesday for the 2025 fiscal year included more than $80 million for EV and alternative fuel technology. Her executive recommendations are supported by Clean Fuels Michigan. The organization is committed to making Michigan a bright, prosperous, and sustainable national leader in clean fuels.

Whitmer’s continued support of cleaner fuels and electric vehicles,” said Jane McCurry, Executive Director, Clean Fuels Michigan. “Clean Fuels Michigan and our members stand ready to work with the legislature to ensure these programs are fully funded in the budget. These investments are necessary to secure Michigan’s leadership in advanced mobility, grow good-paying jobs in the clean fuel sectors, and allow more Michiganders and Michigan fleets to benefit from the improved air quality and cost savings of cleaner vehicle technologies. “
The Governor’s Executive Recommendation includes more than $80 million for EV and alternative fuel technology:
- $25M to incentivize EV charging
- $20M for the “MI Clean Fleet Initiative” to help municipal fleets electrify
- $2M to incorporate zero-emission vehicles in the state fleet per Executive Order 2023-5
- Additionally, $22.3M for hydrogen refueling infrastructure for heavy-duty trucking and $11M for Michigan’s innovative “Truck Stop of the Future” implementation project are expected in a supplemental budget
These investments are necessary to secure Michigan’s leadership in advanced mobility, grow good-paying jobs in the clean fuel sectors, and allow more Michiganders and Michigan fleets to benefit from the improved air quality and cost savings of cleaner vehicle technologies.
