Introducing Karey Hamrick: Transportation Resources Coordinator & MI Healthy Climate Corps Member

March 25, 2024

Karey Hamrick is the new Transportation Resources Coordinator at Clean Fuels Michigan for the newly established Michigan Healthy Climate Corps.  She is one of 30 MHCC members serving in various capacities across Michigan.  She is most excited about collaborating with decision-makers, advocating for clean mobility options, and forging community connections to advance the mission of Clean Fuels Michigan.

The Michigan Healthy Climate (MHC) Corps is a new equity-centered program focused on advancing and reaching Michigan’s Healthy Climate goals, building capacity across the state, and helping guide federal and state resources and support.  The MHC Corps is being launched by the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, & Energy in partnership with the Michigan Community Service Commission.

Karey brings eight years of experience as a former City Commissioner with the City of East Grand Rapids. As an elected official,  she and her colleagues successfully implemented multiple environmental initiatives, such as installing solar arrays on community buildings, residential composting, EV charging stations, and a new mobility bike action plan.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this new climate cohort working with Clean Fuels Michigan to advance their mission and develop a whole new skill set in the green energy sector,” said Karey.

As a current graduate student at DePaul University working toward a Master’s in Public Service Management, Karey is most interested in energy policy and metropolitan planning.  “Working with an organization like Clean Fuels Michigan as a Michigan Healthy Climate Corps member is a fantastic opportunity to further my green energy knowledge base and professional goals,” said Karey.
