Electric vehicles are on a path to reaching cost parity in the coming years. At the same time, millions of dollars of funding from the Infrastructure, Investment, and Jobs Act will be available over the coming months and years. Right now, we have a unique opportunity to transform the EV and charging landscape to prepare for the upcoming increase in electric vehicles on Michigan’s roads. Utility programs, in combination with state and federal grant funding, provide an opportunity for site hosts, fleets, and the general public to take advantage of all that vehicle electrification offers.
This virtual working group is an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities, in addition to curate our collective recommendations for Michigan’s EV charging programs.
The third session, will discuss Commercial Charging. NAVISTAR E-Next Team will present how charging medium- and heavy-duty vehicles differ from passenger vehicles. We’ll get into an honest discussion about the benefits and barriers to electrifying larger vehicle types, and how we can take advantage of opportunities to provide the charging infrastructure needed to serve commercial vehicles.
