Electric vehicles are on a path to reaching cost parity in the coming years. At the same time, millions of dollars of funding from the Infrastructure, Investment, and Jobs Act will be available over the coming months and years. Right now, we have a unique opportunity to transform the EV and charging landscape to prepare for the upcoming increase in electric vehicles on Michigan’s roads. Utility programs, in combination with state and federal grant funding, provide an opportunity for site hosts, fleets, and the general public to take advantage of all that vehicle electrification offers.

This virtual working group is an opportunity to discuss the challenges and opportunities, in addition to curate our collective recommendations for Michigan’s EV charging programs.

The fourth session, will discuss Rural Charging. This session will focus on the unique opportunities and challenges of rural EV charging. Our speakers Kitty Adams from Adopt a Charger, Luna Pier Mayor Jim Gardner, and John Kopinski from ITC Holdings Corp will share their hurdles and success stories of rural EV charging projects in other states and how Michigan can take rural communities’ perspectives into account when planning charging corridors.
